I’m curious what others are seeing - are your colleagues eager to explore and find ways to automate parts of their jobs, or are they resistant to it because they fear being replaced by AI? I’m finding a mix of both. Some people are hesitant to reveal the secrets of their workflows because they are the only ones who can make something work. Others can’t wait to alleviate the pain points.
My colleagues are curious but hesitant at the moment. I use Claude for data analysis and report editing and creation, it’s been a real time saver. I also use it to help polish emails and social media posts. My company is currently creating an AI policy. Since we work in setting guidelines and standards in fraud prevention and piracy, it is important that our data is secure etc.
I’m getting a mix of both, as well. I know one person who flat-out refuses to get to know/understand AI. The other side of the coin is that yes, you can pick and choose which AI to use while at home and for your personal things, but at work you’re pigeon-holed into using one (or even none) proprietary AI or AI that (in my case the DoD) the company says you can use. What about ways around that? I have thought about this, but what about using your AI at home on work stuff and then sending that stuff to work. Or maybe building out the code in Claude Code and sending the code to use at work? Thoughts?
In highly regulated spaces like the DoW, I wouldn’t dare code something at home for work. I have seen what happens when people try to bring in software on a CD to try to fix something on a sensitive system and been part of the crew that had to walk them out. I think the only thing you can do in that kind of environment is advocate for a reasonable AI policy, basing your argument on factual data and recommendations for rules of engagement.
Right. I’m definitely not saying to burn software to a thumbdrive and take it to work to put on your work computer. Maybe code wasn’t what I was looking for. Maybe something more in the line of creating a document for work or mapping out a process with AI that is better than something already in place?
